Laggan is ideally situated for anyone wishing to explore the whole park but it's particularly well-known for BBC Monarch of the Glen series watched by over 85m viewers worldwide! Hill walking along the Spey Valley is equally popular but it takes a little extra fitness to tackle the beautiful Corrieyairack Pass. Laggan's main attraction, however, is its Wolftrax Mountain Bike Centre. Set amongst dramatic Highland scenery of the Strathmashie Forest a blue grade fun park, technical red route and the extreme challenge of a double black diamond provide 18 kilometres of outdoor thrills (and possibly spills!). Parking at base camp is free and there are plenty of facilities on hand: bike hire, spares and repairs, café, showers etc. Highland Activities run centres throughout Scotland. They offer the widest range of outdoor pursuits from archery and canoeing to tomahawk throwing, paintballing and white water rafting. |

The Monadhliath Hotel, pronounced 'Monalia' is the perfect venue for a pub lunch or evening meal with a few drams. The more popular of the two pubs in the village, always has a friendly face to chat too. The old Laggan United Free Church still standing in the grounds and is a great place to have a beer in the afternoon sun. The Laggan Gaskmore Hotel (formerly known as the Laggan Country Hotel) has an open fire which will warm you whilst you try a local malt or a beer from the local brewery or other drink which we have on offer. |

The Laggan 10km road race is growing in popularity. Run in late May or early June it attracts entrants from across the country. For the less enthusiastic there's also a one-mile fun run on the same weekend. Afterwards, why not drop the Pottery Coffee Shop, all the baking is done on the premises, favourites include, the famous carrot cake, 'best ever' cheese scones and home made soups. |
